Every year, the FutureGood team and I scan the horizon for the signals that will shape the social sector. We look at politics, technology, culture, and the economy, and we ask a simple question: what does this mean for the people and communities we care about?

I take this work seriously because I’ve seen what happens when leaders know what’s coming. Years ago, I predicted that working from home would become a normal part of nonprofit life. At the time, many people thought that sounded far-fetched. Then it became how much of our sector works every day. I also predicted that AI would move from a curiosity to an everyday tool for nonprofits and foundations. Today, organizations of every size are using it to manage data, write grant reports, and connect with donors.

The leaders who paid attention to those trends early had time to prepare. They built the systems, policies, and skills they needed before the shift arrived. The leaders who waited spent years catching up.

2027 is shaping up to be a pivotal year. I’m known for my optimism, and I still see plenty of bright spots ahead. I also see real challenges that need our attention right now. Some of what’s coming will test the sector’s resilience. Some of it will open doors we haven’t walked through yet. All of it will reward the organizations that see it coming.

Foresight is a practical skill that helps you protect your people, use your resources wisely, and move toward the future you want to create. When you understand the forces shaping your work, you can make decisions with more confidence and less fear.

I’ll be sharing my full 2027 predictions in a free webinar, and I’d love for you to join me. We’ll explore the trends that will impact nonprofits and philanthropy in the year ahead and talk about what you can do now to get ready.

Another future is possible, and it needs you. Come find out what’s next.
